Wet Hot American Summer

Don't know when the last time you spent a substantial portion of un-air conditioned time in the Southern California sunshine was, but if it was semi-recently then you know we've been deep a classic late August heat wave. Skin gets sticky, the brain clouds over, and the only activity worth leaving the house for is cannonballing in a turquoise swimming pool. We at Groovetickets have one such opportunity. Homemade Events is throwing an epic Wet Pool Party on Saturday, August 30th at The Custom Hotel in lovely Los Angeles, and none other than mushroom-jazz maven himself Mark Farina will be providing your splashy soundtrack. The party begins bumpin' at one in the afternoon and goes till you're satisfied, so come early, stay late, get wet, and get wild. Beat the heat with beats, for reals.

Nocturnal Eternal

Good news, night owls. Los Angeles' supreme anti-sleep sect, Insomniac Events, is officially throwing the mother of all all-nighters on Saturday, September 13th and the name of the game is Nocturnal Festival 2008. Doors open at a chipper six PM and don't close until deep in the pre-dawn (four AM), and the bill boasts monsters of the midnight dance brigade like Digitalism, Above & Beyond, Richie Hawtin, Kaskade, Cosmic Gate, Claude Vonstroke, plus others. The NOS Event Center in San Bernardino is playing host to this hardcore slumber buster so the proceedings are gloriously all-ages, exquisite VIP packages are available, and costumes are thoroughly encouraged. Clearly, there's no rest for the wickedly awesome.

Voices from the Undergound

The only place to be this ”LABOR DAY WEEKEND” Saturday, Aug 30th. Voices From The Underground. I guess from a certain vantage point, it really is quite true that there's no such thing as a bad summer. At worst, the weather's a little too hot and there's a lot of mosquitoes and work sucks, and at best you get a badass tan and cannonball off a high dive into a sparkling pool of bikini babes. Of course the reality is inevitably somewhere between the two, but the tenet that “summer rules” is fairly unbreakable. Especially considering the existence of massive dance extravaganzas like IT Family's second annual Voices From The Underground which is going down at the incredible Hollywood South Lot at 6800 Hawthorn Boulevard in the one and only Hollywood, CA, and features the talents of a zillion record spinning wunderkinds. It's nine great hours of the emotional equivalent of the aforementioned babe splash, and so should be seized with insane haste. Viva la vida.

Summer Love-In

Come on people now, smile on your brother, everybody get together, try to love one another right now. Ok? But seriously. Solid party-schemers Solid Vibe have booked one of the more solid nights in recent memory for this Saturday, August 30th, and the name of the game is Summer Love. Sounds simple, but the reality is even sweeter. An all-ages eight-hour rollercoaster of smiles, friends, music, melody, and the warm California night air sprawled across the wild and crazy environs of Pharaoh's Lost Kingdom Theme & Water Park in Redlands, CA. There's three freeing areas of thrilling contemporary dance music, plus endless rides and good times, all for the taking. Take it till you make it.

Dead As A Dancefloor

Sharpen your knives and map out the details of your last meal, because Technofancy's annual celebration of lethally exquisite dance music is coming to Los Angeles' historic Shrine Exposition Center on Saturday, October 4th, so your days are (quite literally) numbered. Murder The Dancefloor consistently ranks among ravers' favorite techno spectacles, year in and year out, and the 2008 installment promises to raise the ante once again, so bust out your abacus now, there most definitely will be a body count. Pre-sale tickets won't last long, and the few VIP seats are getting grabbed fast, so don't let another year of stellar “ear bleeding sound, terrifying visuals, and a darker element” pass by like a ship in the night. Go out there and make that dancefloor die.
